 Leonardo's Basement offers unique birthday party experiences for children ages 6-16. Party guests design and build creative engineering, technology or art projects that they take home. The project is selected by the birthday child after a brief meeting to discuss ideas. The project building portion of the party typically lasts 1.5 hours and is followed by a 30-minute period for food (provided by you) and social time.
 How This Works
We strive to provide the most exciting, meaningful and appropriate hands-on experience for children that we can. Prior to the party we meet with the child and a parent to ask about interests and ideas for the party, talk about the guests that will be invited and discuss possible projects. Themes may include invention, woodworking, recycled sculpture, painting, jewelry, toy making, electricity, chemistry, rockets or any other idea that results in an imaginative project or experiment. Each workshop session is designed to be engaging for the age and skill level of the guests. Once a project has been selected we schedule an instructor to guide the experience. Leonardo's Basement also provides a T-shirt for the birthday child.
Your Choices
TSaturday and Sunday afternoons are the preferred days for parties but we will try to accommodate requests for other days and times. Parties begin early afternoon (12:30 or 1:00) or mid-afternoon (3:00 or 3:30). Times are first-come, first-served.
 Guests spend a total of two hours at our workshop located in South Minneapolis. They use a variety of hand tools and choose from an incredible supply of amazing building materials. Children generally prefer to build individual projects that spring from their own imaginations but we can facilitate a group building activity with a smaller take home project. After building the party moves to an eating area. We provide tables with plastic tablecloths and you bring food, utensils and decorations. We have an oven and can also provide a list of local pizza restaurants. (You can arrive as early as 30 minutes before the party to decorate.)
Cost
The cost includes instructors and materials for each student to take a project home. Most parties cost $25 per child unless extraordinary materials are required. We can accommodate any size group. The minimum charge is $125. No deposit is required and you can pay on the day of the party with cash, check or credit card.
